About the Teacher
My name is Kristie Worthey. I taught 26 years in Alabama before retiring to teach in Georgia. I have been teaching here at CES for the past 11 years and love it! My passion is teaching; I guess that is why I have been teaching 37 years and have no desire to retire at this time.

I am a graduate of Auburn University in Elementary Education. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, but of course, I love 2nd best! I have additional training in the area of reading. Since being at CES, I have taught reading/ELA in a departmentalized setting, but this year I get to teach a self-contained class. I an so excited about teaching math, science, and social studies; as well as reading/ELA that I totally love!

I am married to my wonderful husband, Calvin. We have been married for 34 years and sometimes I think he knows as much about teaching as I do; after all he hears about it daily. I share my wonderful stories with him and he helps me cut-out, color, research activities, etc. He is simply the best!

We have one adult son, Tyler. and a wonderful daughter-in-law, Ana. They live in Opelika, AL. As of now, we do not have grandchildren, but we can hope! Tyler graduated from Auburn University and shares my love of the Auburn Tigers. War Eagle!
